Barratt Homes unveils Edinburgh affordable housing drive

We were recommended to move to Waterside Park by an estate agent. We have always lived locally but we have a disabled member of our family and needed a home with specific adaptions. We moved into our house when it was brand new and we spoke directly with the developer to ensure everything met our needs. The house has a lift installed and the kitchen units and sinks have been lowered, we asked before moving in for the kitchen units to be made slightly higher and this was arranged. Whilst the kitchen is ridiculously small with the lift there is not much else they could have done on the configuration.

There are no local amenities nearby at present, it’s a long walk into town or its necessary to get the car out. We didn’t like the detachment from the local authority for services that are part of community charge on traditional residential property. The service charge felt out of our control and an unknown factor for the future. We chose the development because of the marketing stressing how wildlife friendly it was going to be. However, once we were there, although Barratts had done what they said they would do, that was the end of the story.

Cut your energy bills in a brand-new home

You just buy a share of the Barratt home that’s right for you and our partner company heylo will own the other share and act as your landlord. Upton Gardens regenerates West Ham United’s former football ground delivering 842 new homes whilst still celebrating the site’s unique history. Barratt Homes has unveiled plans to deliver 96 affordable homes at three housing developments across Edinburgh, which are collectively worth in excess of £10 million.

The main reason for purchasing our home was the overall availability to local amenities whilst also feeling slightly off the beaten track. Close to Leicester, Coventry and Birmingham for the more extravagant night out whilst also seeing Nuneaton grow as a town with more local businesses and food places to be able to visit. I drive so although transport links are not important to me, the train and bus routes are good and I believe support people in surrounding towns. Street parking is brilliant, large roads for a new build estate with extra parking and our two spaces.

Barratt Homes East Scotland has committed to bringing much-needed modern and affordable homes to popular areas of Edinburgh.

The wildlife initiative was just a paper project with no reality. The Group has entered into a number of joint venture arrangements, in particular in London, which has enabled us to secure excellent land opportunities and develop larger, more complex sites in the capital. The shared ownership property will be your principle and only home.

Working closely with local architects and artists there is a Legacy Route, a green throughway at the heart of the scheme. Unfortunately people in the local neighbourhood reduce its attractiveness. Overall a nice neighbourhood and I like that there is a lot of nature in the area and wildlife. Overall I love my home and believe we would have almost certainly had a worse service from other new build companies from reviews.

The back garden was overlooked all round by a cluster of surrounding houses. It seems that nowadays many people want huge houses and don’t care about gardens.
